Ted Koppel, the longest-serving news anchor in network history, will talk with host Marvin Kalb about "The Twilight of Network News" on the next edition of "The Kalb Report" Monday, Nov. 19. Koppel, whose legendary broadcasting career spans over a half century, warned on a Kalb Report in 1996 that the "technological tail" was beginning to "wag the editorial dog" in news broadcasting. Want to spend election night in a nonpartisan atmosphere? The National Press Club will host a gala election night party, and there's still time to join us! Space has opened up and tickets are available. The event will be open to Club members in the Truman Lounge and open to the public in the First Amendment Lounge. Admission is $10 for Club members and $15 for nonmembers. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. Panel to assess election polls Thursday, Nov. 8
What did the polls get right ahead of the election, and where did they go wrong? Two days after the election, a panel of pollsters will sit down at the Club’s Journalism Institute and assess polling in the presidential race. South African Night rescheduled for Monday, Nov. 26
The South African Night on the "Life, Legacy and Values of Nelson Mandela" at the Club has been rescheduled for Monday, Nov. 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Ballroom.
