Wife, lawyer to discuss Alan Gross case at Nov. 30 Newsmaker
The case of Alan Gross, a U.S. Agency for International Development subcontractor who remains in a Cuban prison, will be the subject of Newmaker on Friday, Nov. 30. Gross' wife, Judy, and their lawyer, Jared Genser, will speak. Singer James Taylor to headline Club Luncheon Dec. 7
Singer James Taylor is scheduled to speak at a Club Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 7. Taylor, a singer-songwriter and guitarist, is a five-time Grammy Award winner. His first breakthrough hit came in 1970 with "Fire and Rain," and he performed at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., in September. Press Club to host screening of documentary on investigative reporting in Mexico
The Club, along with Reporters Without Borders, is hosting a screening of a new PBS documentary, Reportero, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12. The documentary looks at the risks of investigative journalism in Mexico. The film follows a veteran reporter and his colleagues at Zeta, the Tijuana-based independent newsweekly, as they ply their trade in one of the deadliest places in the world for members of the media.
