Chef Shares Recipe Finds with Club Members
Reliable Source diners who liked the soup last Friday got an additional treat: The recipe. A long-time fan of newspapers' food sections, Executive Chef Susan Delbert decided to do what lots of foodies do: Try the recipe, make some tweaks and then share a good find. Delbert was intrigued by the carrot and tahini soup recipe in the April 7 New York Times' food section. So she put it on Friday's buffet and left copies next to the soup tureen. A Dozen Comupters on 14th Floor; Sign-in Required
By Thursday afternoon, 12 computers will be installed and ready for members' use in the 14th floor alcove. These will augment the three computers that will be available in the library when the library's monthlong renovation is complete about Labor Day. To ensure the 14th floor computers are available for members only, a sign-in will be required: The same user name and password you use to access the members-only section of the NPC web site. "Spy" Julia Child spilled the beans at the Club
Well before the AP story this week, NPC members knew all about Julia Child's involvement with the OSS, the predecessor of the CIA. Child worked as a clerk for the World War II-era spy agency, and she described it during her 1993 appearance at an NPC luncheon. Questioned by President Clayton Boyce, Child spilled the beans. We "declassified" photos and an audio file of her luncheon.
