Religious leaders spoke to reporters about recent events surrounding the circulation of political cartoons in Europe depicting the Prophet Muhammad. The original publication in a Danish newspaper and subsequent republication by papers in other countries following initial public outcry had led to sectarian violence and protest against the West is several Islamic countries. Survey on Teen Drug Use
Officials released a report titled "2005 Monitoring the Future Survey on Teen Drug Abuse." The report examined recent trends in juvenile drug use and found a modest decline in teen drug abuse of alcohol and tobacco, but found increases in use of prescription pills such as OxyContin.
