Economic and Political Reforms in Thailand
Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun outlined the economic and political reforms that are taking place in Thailand, and discussed some of the difficulties his government has faced, such as a growing AIDS epidemic. The prime minister is a former ambassador to the United States and Canada, and also served as his nation's representative to the United Nations. He became prime minister in March of this year.

Events in the Soviet Union
Ambassador Strauss was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union in August of this year. He was chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1973 to 1976. He was named special trade representative under President Jimmy Carter, and served as a representative to the Middle East negotiations. Mr. Strauss discussed the unfolding events in the Soviet Union, including the Soviet economic infrastructure and future policy objectives. Amateur Athletics in America
Track and field athlete Mr. Lewis discussed the state of amateur athletics in America, and government sponsorship of America's Olympic teams. A four-event participant in the 1988 Seoul summer Olympics, he won the gold medal in the long jump, the 200 meter sprint, and anchored the 4 by 100 meter relay team. Exiled Haitian President Address
Last September Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was ousted after a military coup. He was the first freely elected leader of Haiti. Last month he negotiated an agreement with Haiti's interim government that would have allowed him to return to power. The Haitian parliament, however, has indefinitely delayed the vote that would have led to his return. Mr. Aristide talked about his exile and about conditions in Haiti.
