Legends of Broadcast: Diane Rehm
Diane Rehm will be the guest of honor at the Legends of Broadcast dinner being held Thursday, May 18 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Holeman Lounge Rehm is a native Washingtonian who began her radio career in 1973 as a volunteer for WAMU 88.5, the NPR member station in Washington, D.C. She was hired as an assistant producer and later became the host and producer of two health-oriented programs. In 1979, she began hosting WAMU’s local morning talk show, Kaleidoscope, which was renamed The Diane Rehm Show in 1984. A Memorial Service for former Club President Mike Freedman will be held by the National Press Club on January 8 at 6pm in the Holeman Lounge. All Club members and their guests are welcome, but registration is required. Freedman was the Club’s 114th President and led the organization through the challenging year of 2020 when the pandemic was at its height. He performed remarkably in that role and was able to bring many important initiatives to the Club despite the challenging environment. Freedman passed away in late 2023 from pancreatic cancer.
