On March 14, the Trump administration issued an executive order that significantly downsized the U.S. Agency for Global Media. One major casualty was the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN), which was forced to lay off most of its staff on April 11. In response, MBN President and CEO Jeff Gedmin and Press Freedom Center Director Bill McCarren will discuss the wide impact of these cuts at a news conference. National Press Club President Emily Wilkins will recognize journalist and communicator members for outstanding service to the Club at the Vivian Awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will take place at the National Press Club in the First Amendment Lounge and is open to those Club members who are actively involved with one of the Club's 16 teams. "The Vivians" are named after former club president Vivian Vahlberg and honor the Club's top volunteers.

His trial, under the City’s National Security Law is set to resume Nov. 20, and Caoilfhionn Gallagher, head of Jimmy's legal team, will provide an update on the case.
