Photographing Elections: Documenting the 2020-2022 Election Cycles
National Press Club members can learn how photojournalist Sue Dorfman created a comprehensive visual chronicle of the 2020, 2021, and 2022 U.S. election cycles at the Photography Team's next meeting on Thursday, March 1 at 12:00 noon in the Cosgrove Lounge. The session begins with a self-funded lunch from the Reliable Source at 12:00 noon. Dorfman's talk follows at 1:00 pm, and will also be available by Zoom. The program is open to all NPC members and invited guests.

"India: The Modi Question" Documentary & Panel
On Tuesday, March 7th at 6 p.m., a truncated version of "India: The Modi Question" will be screened followed by a panel discussion organized by the Indian American Muslim Council. After the BBC aired this documentary on Jan. 17, the Indian government used its emergency powers to ban it from being aired in the country. Modi’s government also forced Twitter and YouTube to block the documentary in India under an unjust 2021 information technology law. American Legion Post 20 to Host British Defense Attache
The next luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20 will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at noon in the Cosgrove Room at the National Press Club. The guest speaker will be Rear Admiral Tim Woods of Britain's Royal Navy. Admiral Woods is Britain's Defense Attache in Washington, and he previously served as Defense Attache in Ukraine. He will offer his perspective on common US/UK national security issues ranging from the war in Ukraine to tensions with China. Join your fellow foreign correspondents for drinks at the International Correspondents Committee happy hour! The ICC team will gather in the Cosgrove Lounge to mingle, network and discuss current events. The team will be joined by a special guest from Ukraine, who will be sharing the latest from the ground. Solidarity for Shireen Abu Akleh
Veteran American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot and killed on May 11, 2022 as she was covering a raid near Jenin in the West Bank. A correspondent for Al Jazeera, Shireen had been covering events in the region for 15 years and was following all the protocols to maintain safety. She was in plain sight of the Israeli forces. She was wearing a vest clearly marked PRESS, and was wearing her helmet. But, despite these precautions, evidence indicates she was fired upon and killed by the Israeli military.
