The National Press Club will hold a moment of silence in observance of the second anniversary of the murder of Saudi journalist and Washington Post Global Opinions contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi on Friday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET. It's Time to #FreeAustinTice
The National Press Club will mark the anniversary of the abduction and detention of Award-winning journalist and Marine veteran Austin Tice on Friday, August 14 by unveiling a Freedom Clock that will display a dynamic record of the time Austin has been unjustly detained in Syria. The event will take place in the lobby of the Club by the staircase at noon, Aug. 14. Reservations are required for contact tracing reasons. This year's exhibit displays members' print photos and electronic images in the Club's 13th floor lobby from Aug. 30 to Sept 27, with a special opening reception on Friday, Sept. 6. The exhibit's opening reception is on Friday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 pm. This year's reception is a special event, and we're using the 20th annual exhibit to raise awareness of the Fallen Journalists Memorial supported by the National Press Club Journalism Institute. Rebuilding Hope after the Pakistan Floods The devastating floods hit Pakistan for two consecutive years 2010 and 2011. The 2010 floods swept through one fifth of the length and breadth of Pakistan. This photo exhibit highlights the genuine expression of the people of Pakistan who struggle to rebuild their livelihoods with revived “HOPE” for the future and showcase the United Nations Development Programme’s work in Pakistan. The NPC Events Team and NPC American Legion Post 20 are sponsoring a tour of the historic Washington Navy Yard on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. NPC members and guests should meet just outside the Navy Yard’s Sixth Street gate on M Street SE.
