Learn how to engage audiences with visual storytelling at breakfast, June 24
Award-winning photo/video journalist Garrett Hubbard plans to show how visual storytelling helps bring real engagement in a visually-saturated world at a National Press Club Communicators Breakfast on Wednesday, June 24 at 8:30 a.m. in the NPC's Truman Lounge.
Admission is free for Press Club members and $10 for guests, who must be accompanied by a member, and includes continental breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Click here to register.
Formerly a newspaper photojournalist, Hubbard says he learned his craft with help from journalists because they live, eat and breathe the story. He was on the staff at USA Today for five years, which he called his dream job, where he traveled the world on assignments that included covering the White House, a royal wedding and the Olympics.
Along the way, Hubbard picked up awards from the National Press Photographers Association, the Online News Association and the White House News Photographers Association, among others. He previously worked at the Naples (Fla.) Daily News, and his images have appeared in the New York Times and the Washington Post.
Hubbard has settled down with his wife and daughter in Northern Virginia, where he recently launched Garrett Hubbard Studios. Today, he produces stories using video and still photography to connect his clients to their audiences.
“There is an unquenchable thirst for authentic stories in our world,” Hubbard says. “We now live in the most visually-literate society history has ever known. This is why visual storytelling is such a relevant and effective way to connect people to a brand, idea and mission.”
