Time Change: Armenian foreign minister, other officials to discuss 100th anniversary of genocide, 9 am May 7

The 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide will be the topic of a Newsmakers news conference at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 7, in the National Press Club's West Room, 13th floor, National Press Building.

Participants will include Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Armenian presidential chief of staff Vigen Sarkisian and National Commemoration of Armenian Genocide Centennial Chairman and 100 LIVES Co-Founder Noubar Afeyan.

They will highlight memorial events being held in Washington and around the world during the week by the Armenian community.

Thousands of Armenians, along with policymakers, religious leaders from the United States, Canada and around the world will gather on May 7-9 in Washington to remember the 1.5 million men, women and children who perished a century ago. Commemoration events also will honor individuals and organizations that worked to save Armenians in 1915.

Like all Newsmakers events, the news conference is open to credentialed press and Club members free of charge. No advanced registration is required.
