NPC Broadcast Operations Center on 4th floorFor October, there is a Broadcasters Social on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Club's Truman Lounge. Those interested can connect with fellow broadcast professionals then as well. Register here.

The Broadcast-Podcast Team serves as a forum for members interested in multimedia journalism, including radio, television, podcasting and digital. All Club members are welcome to join the discussions.

Its members also produce the Update-1 podcasts at the Club.

The Team meets regularly and also sponsors periodic limited-access informal dinner events that allow Club members and their guests to hear the broadcast journalism honoree's remarks and participate in an intimate Q&A.

The Legends of Broadcast series last featured NPR's Nina Totenberg, who pointed to two present-day concerns she has about the journalism profession: "One is the seemingly inexorable disappearance of local newspapers and local TV news that is more than 'If it bleeds, it leads.' Without serious local journalism, people don't know what's happening and they can't be expected to hold officeholders accountable."

The other, she said, is "the Trump administration's efforts to silence news outlets it disagrees with, starting with NPR and ending with big TV networks. This administration is hardly the only one to complain about coverage, but it's the first to try to actually silence news organizations since the Nixon administration."
