Shaping a months-long investigation or long-form narrative can be tough, especially with a trove of important material.
Join the National Press Club Journalism Institute and instructor Tom Huang, assistant managing editor for journalism initiatives at The Dallas Morning News, to learn how to find focus and harness your narrative. He’ll share tips for organization, editing yourself, and finding clarity.
This free event will take place on Zoom. Registration is open.
Huang edits in-depth enterprise stories, directs newsroom talent development, and leads The Dallas Morning News’ community-funded journalism initiative. As an adjunct faculty member of The Poynter Institute, he organizes and teaches seminars for professional journalists on writing, reporting, and editing, and coaches in the Local News Innovation Program, which helps newsrooms make the transition to sustainable digital publishing. Huang also serves on the NPCJI board.
The session is part of the programming for the Institute’s inaugural Public Health Reporting Fellowship, in which five mid-career journalists have been reporting for months on different public health issues, to be published later this summer.
