Where does your state stand? National Parents Organization to Release 2025 Shared Parenting Report Card
The contentious question of how courts handle parenting time after divorce will take center stage when the National Parents Organization unveils its 2025 Shared Parenting Report Card on Wednesday, April 23rd at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
The comprehensive analysis grades all 50 states on their child custody laws, revealing which states’ support children maintaining meaningful relationships with both parents after separation — and which states are falling behind.
Previous report cards have helped lead reform efforts among lawmakers, judges, and family advocates, with several states enacting legislation directly in response to their rankings. This year's report highlights both encouraging progress in some states and troubling sluggishness in others.
The event brings together family law experts, child development specialists, and parents who have navigated the family court system. Following the press conference, attendees will join expert panels exploring best practices and emerging trends in shared parenting legislation. Experts include:
- Dr. William Fabricius, nationally recognized expert on children of divorced parents
- Emma Johnson, Founder of Moms for Equal Parenting
- Andre Rainey, President of Father’s Are Important
- Ginger Gentile, Documentary Filmmaker, “Erasing Family”
- Don Hubin, Chair, National Parents Organization
- And more.
The day culminates with an exclusive screening of "We the Parents," an award-winning documentary following families fighting for shared parenting rights, with filmmakers Elizabeth and Mike McNeese on hand for a Q&A session.
The event coincides with Parental Alienation Awareness Day (April 25) and National Shared Parenting Day (April 26), creating a week-long focus on children's rights to maintain loving relationships with both parents.
Free registration for both in-person and virtual attendance is available at www.SharedParenting.org. Space is limited.
