Join us at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10 for a screening of the Muhammad Ali episode of the new documentary series David Frost Vs followed by a discussion with Executive Producer of the series and Frost’s son, broadcaster Wilfred Frost, on his father’s career and interviews’ impact on journalism. The discussion will also feature clips from episodes on President Nixon, Jane Fonda, and Elton John.
Drawing from an archive of over 10,000 era-defining interviews, many of which have been lost for a generation, David Frost Vs presents a fresh perspective on the battles of yesterday, which have striking parallels to today’s culture. Frost’s work shows the mid-to-late 20th century as a furnace of change and uncertainty that continues to permeate current affairs. David's first encounter with Muhammad Ali leads to an unlikely life-long friendship that tracks Ali from his lowest lows to his biggest win.
“I have learned an enormous amount, and I think our viewers will too. Dad’s archive allows us to go behind the scenes of key moments in our recent history and re-examine those moments in a deeply personal way from the mouths of the protagonists themselves at the moments in their lives when it really mattered,” said Wilfred Frost. The six-part documentary series was made in collaboration with Wilfred and will be aired by MSNBC Films starting April 27.
Doors to the National Press Club’s Holeman Lounge open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees time to order a drink from the bar and mingle. To submit a question in advance for the speaker, put FROST in the subject line and email it to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is 2 p.m. on the day of the screening.
MSNBC Films have acquired David Frost Vs for the US. The series is a Sky Studios production, co-produced with Paradine Productions and White Horse Pictures, directed by Liz Mermin, Francis Longhurst, Marion Milne, Matthew Hill and Tom McCarthy. Executive Producers are Wilfred Frost (Paradine Productions), Nigel Sinclair (White Horse Pictures), Cassidy Hartmann (White Horse Pictures) and Danielle Peck (Sky Studios). Rashida Jones, Rebecca Kutler and Amanda Spain serve as Executive Producers for MSNBC Films.
