New privacy work booths arrive Tuesday on the 14th floor

The National Press Club is upgrading the 14th-floor member workspace with the installation of privacy work booths on Tuesday, March 18. The booths will offer a quiet space for focused work, video calls, or phone calls. The Club is adding the booths in response to member feedback.

During the installation, the workspace in the hallway outside of the fitness center and back to the 14th-floor studio will be unavailable. We appreciate your patience as we complete this upgrade!

If you’re looking for a quiet place in the Club to work on Tuesday, the Library is a great alternative option. If you need to take a phone call or conduct an interview, please email [email protected] to reserve the Library conference room and help keep noise to a minimum.

The new 14th floor booths are designed with comfort, privacy, and sustainability in mind. Key features include:

• Acoustic Panels – Sound-absorbing panels ensure privacy and reduce background noise.
• LED Lighting – Motion-activated lighting for energy efficiency and well-lit video calls.
• Height Adjustable Desk – Adaptable for sitting, standing, or using a stool.
• Active Ventilation – Fans refresh the air more than once per minute for comfort.

Booth Usage Guidelines

To ensure all members can enjoy these new workspaces, we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines:

Time Limit: Please be mindful of your time—limit use to 1 hour when others are waiting. These booths are designed for short-term focused work, not as all-day offices.

Cleanliness: Leave the booth as you found it. Dispose of any trash, wipe down surfaces if needed, and remove personal belongings when finished.

Noise Levels: While the booths are designed to reduce noise, please keep conversations and calls at a respectful volume.

Reservations: At this time, booths will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. If demand increases, we will explore a reservation system.

Be Considerate: If you see someone waiting, please be courteous and wrap up your work within a reasonable timeframe.
