Historian and popular commentator Heather Cox Richardson will join us for Cocktails & Conversation on Jan. 16 at the National Press Club.

Heather Cox Richardson is a professor of history at Boston College. Her award-winning books have covered the Civil War, the Gilded Age, the American West, the history of the Republican Party, and other topics. Her most recent book, “Democracy Awakening: Notes on the State of America,” was a New York Times bestseller. The Washington Post called it “magisterial.” Her nightly newsletter, Letters from an American, reaches more than three million readers. Richardson likes to say that history doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes. A lively storyteller, Richardson connects the past with the present, but always with an eye on the future. As one reviewer said, “Richardson empowers us for the chapters yet to come.”

Cocktails & Conversation will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ballroom. There will be a cash bar. Space is limited.

To submit a question in advance for the speaker, put RICHARDSON in the subject line and email it to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is 2 p.m. on the day of the talk.
