'The Vegetarian' by Nobel Prize winner Han Kang is subject of Dec. 21 discussion over Zoom

The National Press Club Books & Brunch group will meet virtually at noon, Saturday, Dec. 21, to discuss "The Vegetarian" by Han Kang, the recent winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize for Literature.

"The Vegetarian," a novel in three parts told from the point of view of three different characters, explores the transformation of Yeong-hye, an ordinary wife, after she experiences a series of nightmares. The Nobel Prize committee cited the South Korean author for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life."

Planning ahead? The group plans to discuss "Wilmington's Lie: The Murderous Coup of 1898 and the Rise of White Supremacy" by Pulitzer Prize winner David Zucchino at its meeting scheduled for noon on Jan. 18, 2025, via Zoom.
