Tonight: Special Taco Night to celebrate release of journalists Evan and Alsu

To celebrate the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and Radio Free Europe journalist Alsu Kurmasheva from unlawful detention in Russia, the National Press Club will offer a special Taco Night this evening, Aug. 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to the traditional taco bar, the Club will offer a special Press Freedom "Released" burger and signature cocktails honoring both Evan and Alsu. We hope you can join us in the Reliable Source tonight.

The Club worked tirelessly to keep the plight of both journalists in the public eye and on the political agenda. As part of our press freedom mission, the Club sponsored about a dozen events for Gershkovich over the course of his unlawful detention, including a 24-hour read-a-thon of his work. The Club named Gershkovich its John Aubuchon honoree, its highest press freedom honor.
