Pakistan ambassador to discuss his country's flooding at Newsmaker, Friday

Ambassador Masood Khan of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will speak at a National Press Club Headliners Newsmaker event on Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m.  in the Holeman Lounge. He will discuss the recent flooding in Pakistan.

The world has seen shocking video of the recent record flooding in Pakistan but the impact on the country is far greater than even these videos suggest. The number of people who are displaced, missing or dead are high and climbing rapidly. Ambassador Khan will provide a briefing on what is now known of the situation and what is projected in the short and longer term. He will discuss relief efforts and how Americans can best help. And he will take questions from the press.

Khan has just recently assumed his role in D.C. , after serving in D.C. once before, from 1997-2002. He served as Pakistan’s representative to the United Nation’s from 2012-2015. He has had other significant postings in China and Geneva and was Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry from 2003-2005. Early in his career, he was a journalist, working as a television host and a radio newscaster.
