Congressional Black Caucus Chair: The State of African-American Women
Third-term Congresswoman Marcia Fudge of Ohio, the new chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, will address the state of black women in America at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference on Thursday, August 1 at 10a.m.
In remarks paying homage to a 1974 University of Ohio speech by the first black woman elected to Congress, Shirley Chisholm, Congresswoman Fudge will also address the lack of appointments of African-American women by the Obama administration. In addition, she will speak about the service organization Harriet’s Trail, which focuses on encouraging black women to seek elected office.
