What are the technologies poised to disrupt the District? Facial recognition tools, self-aware databases and visual bookmarking services are just a few of the emerging tech trends that will dramatically affect journalists, communications professionals, associations and government agencies in 2013. In this fast-paced session, you’ll learn how your organization can take advantage of what’s coming next!

This session is being facilitated by Amy Webb, lead trendspotter and CEO of Webbmedia Group. Amy studies disruptive technologies and advises a worldwide client base for Fortune 100 and Global 1000 companies, government agencies, media organizations and foundations. She holds a number of professional affiliations, including the MIT Media Lab (Research Affiliate), Columbia University (Lecturer, Sulzberger Program) and as a Delegate on the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission. Amy judges many of the emerging tech/ accelerator awards and serves on a number of boards, including SXSW Accelerator, Online News Association, Knight Batten, International Center for Journalists and International Press Institute. She has an M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and holds a B.A. in political science with a concentration in economics from Indiana University. Amy also earned Nikyu Certification in the Japanese government-administered Language Proficiency Test and speaks fluently. Amy is an active startup investor and advisor and is a keynote/ featured speaker at conferences and industry gatherings.
