Refresher Class in Excel
The National Press Club Journalism Institute and the Regional Reporters Association will hold the next in a yearlong series of programs for reporters covering the 2012 campaign with refresher course in Microsoft Excel.
The program will be held in the Bloomberg Classroom at the National Press Club on March 14 at 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
The program, which will be led by RRA board member Herb Jackson of The Record (Bergen County, NJ), is designed as a follow-up to last month’s Federal Election Commission data diving class, but anyone who missed that class could still benefit.
Intended for those with some Excel skills who want to get better at importing, sorting and filtering data, the session will cover how to grab data from the FEC and other sites and use it to tell the stories you want to write. The session also will spend time on the most powerful feature of Excel, pivot tables and charts, which tap the database management functions of the program.
Space will be limited, so RSVP to [email protected]
