ESPN 980 AM radio personality and Washington Examiner columnist Thom Loverro will speak at the Young Members committee's Media On Tap. Loverro, who co-hosts "The Sports Fix" on 980 weekdays from 12-2pm and makes appearances on 980's "The Sports Reporters" weekdays 4-7pm, was named Maryland Sports Writer of the Year in 2009 as a sports reporter at the Washington Times, where he worked from 1992-2009. According to his website, Loverro has won 27 national, regional and local journalism awards over his career, including a first place in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and a three-time sports columnist winner in the Virginia Press Association competition. Loverro has also published 11 books on a variety of topics ranging from the Redskins and Orioles to women's hockey, professional wrestling and Negro League baseball.
Combining his broad knowledge of sports in the Washington-Baltimore corridor and his uncanny storytelling abilities, Loverro provides thoughtful and insightful analysis to a burgeoning Washington sports radio scene.
