The National Press Club's Press Freedom Committee co-sponors, as it does annually, a press conference with the Committee to Protect Journalists on November 18, to unveil the winners of the 2010 International Press Freedom Awards. The awards are given annually to journalists from around the world who fight to tell the truth under dangerous conditions.

Honoring Courage and Defying Repression
CPJ’s International Press Freedom Award winners
New York, November 10, 2010 – Three leading journalists from Ethiopia, Russia and Venezuela who have endured investigations, arrest, prison and harassment for their reporting, will be honored by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) with the 2010 International Press Freedom Awards on November 23 in New York. As part of their itinerary, the awardees will tell their stories and assess the challenges and repercussions of practicing independent journalism in their countries. Mohammad Davari, an imprisoned Iranian journalist, will also be recognized.
