Mr. Bennett announced a new National Commission on Civic Renewal co-chaired by former Senator Nunn and himself which is intended to address issues of civic trust and national morale. He also talked about the civility and good manners which are missing from public conversation. He believes this has resulted in increasing cynicism, distress, distrust and anger. Following his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience.
