Dole Economic Plan Critique
Dr. Tyson gave the administration view of the economic plan of Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole. She criticized the plan for being a remanufactured supply-side proposal which she argued did not work in the 1980s. She predicted that it would explode the deficit and increase interest rates which would hamper the economic growth which the plan is supposed to foster. She also championed the president's economic record over the past four years and outlined his agenda for the next four years, including further deficit reduction and targeted tax cuts. After her remarks, she took questions from the audience.
