African-American Male Status in Society

After reading a passage from the Book of Isiah, Mr. Young spoke about the crisis within the African-American community, about which a commission, of which he is a member, conducted a survey. He outlined the complex nexus of interrelating factors in U.S. society, such as the breakdown of families, education and unemployment problems, that have fostered the anger and alienation so prevalent among African-American males. After his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience.
