Rea Carey, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, will talk about the efforts under way to pass the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act and other legislation to advance equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the current political landscape. She will also address the importance of working with allies and across movements to achieve equality and unconditional justice for all.
She will also address progress in the LGBT rights movement and its connection to a broader progressive agenda -- relationship recognition and marriage as related to economic justice, why LGBT people should care about comprehensive immigration reform, and how attacks on a woman's right to choose should concern everyone.
