Award-winning investigative journalist John Solomon will share tricks of the trade and discuss the innovative iWatch News project at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25.

Solomon is executive editor of the Center for Public Integrity, which launched the beta version of iWatch News this month. The web-based publication offers exclusive stories focused on money and politics, government accountability, the environment, the financial sector and more.

Solomon joined the Center for Public Integrity in March 2010, as its first journalist-in-residence. During his quarter-century career in print and broadcast media, he has served as executive editor of the Washington Times, served as national investigative correspondent for the Washington Post and oversaw the investigative team at the Associated Press. He's an experienced innovator. While at the Post, he produced its first joint project with CBS’ “60 Minutes,” exposing serious flaws at the FBI crime. The series won the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Journalism Award for domestic television in 2008.

The program will take place in the Bloomberg Classroom of the National Press Club and refreshments will be served. There is no charge, but reservations are required at [email protected].

The program is part of a year-long series on “Investigative Reporting in the New Media Environment” sponsored by the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library and the Club’s Professional Development Committee. The series is conducted through a grant from the Ethics and Excellent in Journalism Foundation.
