Gen. James L. Jones, former United States National Security Advisor for the Obama Administration and a retired four-star general, will address the National Press Club at a luncheon on Monday, May 16. Gen. Jones will speak on the impact of Osama bin Laden's death on Al-Qaeda, as well as on the United States' relationship with Pakistan. He also will discuss the strategic goals of the United States in the changing Middle East, especially in Libya, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Israel, Palestine and Northern Africa.
Gen. Jones served as the 32nd Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and Supreme Allied Commander in Europe before joining the Obama Administration as National Security Advisor. He resigned that post in November, 2010.
The May 16 Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Jones’ remarks will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. Cost of luncheon admission is $18 for National Press Club members, $29 for their guests, and $36 for the general public. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
