"Of Gods and Men" - Preview of Cannes Grand Prize Winning Film to Benefit Eric Friedheim Library March 8, 6:30 p.m.

Based on the book by local author and historian, John Kiser, "Of Gods and Men" tells the true story of a group of French Cistercian Trappist monks caught up in the violence of Algeria’s civil war in the 1990s. The New York Times describes the film as a "beautiful, somber and rigorously intelligent new film by the French director Xavier Beauvois."

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on March 8 at the West End Cinema, 2301 M Street NW (Entrance is on 23rd Street, just off of M and next to Bread and Chocolate). Following the film, Kiser will answer questions about the events portrayed in the film.

Tickets ($10) must be purchased in advance. To pay by credit card, please call 202-662-7523. Or, tickets can be paid for in cash by stopping by the Library no later than 5 p.m., Monday, Mar. 7. The price of the ticket is a tax deductible contribution to the Club’s non-profit Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library.
