As the 2010 midterm elections approach, the Tea Party is emerging as the wild-card player. But who are the Tea Partiers? Where do they come from, what do they stand for, and what role does their movement hope to play in the future of American politics?
The authors of three new books examining the movement from differing points of view will discuss the topic at the National Press Club of Friday, Sept. 10 in the Murrow Room.
FreedomWorks Chairman and former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey, Give Us Liberty: A Tea Party Manifesto ($20)
New York Times reporter Kate Zernike, Boiling Mad: Inside Tea Party America ($25)
Harvard historian and New Yorker staff writer Jill Lepore, The Whites of Their Eyes: The Tea Party’s Revolution and the Battle Over American History (available in bookstores Oct. 12)
Tucker Carlson, editor in chief of The Daily Caller, will also participate.
The event is free for Club members, $5 for non-members. As a fundraiser for the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, no outside books will be permitted. Copies of the books will be available for purchase and signing.
Reservations are required at [email protected] or call 202-662-7523.
