Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

Dr. Sheets spoke to a luncheon audience at the National Press Club on his research on hurricanes and tropical storms at the National Hurricane Center. He discussed the recent response of emergency crews and the insurance industry to Hurricane Andrew, which ripped up the coast of Florida in 1992. He also discussed efforts to control hurricanes and storms to prevent major loss of life in urban areas. Following his prepared remarks, Dr. Sheets responded to questions from the audience.
