National Press Club Awards Luncheon

Columnist David Broder delivered a brief speech to a luncheon audience at the National Press Club following a ceremony honoring the club's best journalists of the previous year. Awards were given to the winners of nearly twenty categories of journalism, and each winner spoke briefly. Mr. Broder discussed the balance between objective journalism, journalistic criticism, and the production of news reporting. He called for journalists to become more aware of the obligations and responsibilities involved in fair reporting and journalistic coverage.
