Funding for Public Television
Mr. Christensen, president of the Public Broadcasting Service, addressed a luncheon of the National Press Club on the recent controversy over public funding of television programming. Critics have recently questioned the amount of funding granted to PBS to produce public interest programming, as well as the partisan slant of PBS programming. Mr. Christensen defended the record of the Public Broadcasting Service as well as the fundraising record of the network. He responded to questions from members of the audience following his prepared remarks.
