SPJ needs paid, part-time awards coordinator

The DC Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists [SPJ] is looking for a Contest Coordinator for the chapter’s annual awards competition.

The prestigious Dateline Awards for excellence in journalism are presented at the chapter’s annual banquet in June. SPJ needs one person to take on the paid, part-time responsibility of soliciting and coordinating entries, collecting entry fees, organizing volunteer judges, processing judges’ choices and announcing competition winners in a news release.

Most of the work will take place from January through mid-June. A background in competition management is highly desirable.

Compensation: $2,500 plus reasonable expenses.

The application deadline is Saturday, Oct. 15.
