Spelling bee returns Sept. 21

The Club's spelling bee, pitting politicians against journalists, returns Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The competition begins at 7 p.m. Food and drinks will be served.

The 2013 champion, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), leveraged his victory into a vice presidential nomination. The 2015 victor, Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), will be back to defend his title this year against fellow lawmakers and members of the press.

Tickets available now at www.press.org/spelling-bee. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the National Press Club Journalism Institute which provides training, resources, education and career development programs to media and communications professionals, awards scholarships to the next generation of journalists and recognizes excellence in journalism.
