Runners, supporters needed for Foley Freedom Run to promote press freedom, Saturday
Looking for a way to exercise while also supporting press freedom? The National Press Club is recruiting runners and/or walkers to join the Club team to raise money to support the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation.
The virtual Sixth Annual Foley Freedom Run will take place at a venue of your choosing this Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Registration is $40, which includes a t-shirt. Proceeds go to the Club’s goal of raising $2,500 for the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation. The foundation helps advocate for the freedom of all Americans held hostage abroad and promotes the safety of journalists worldwide.
The event is designed for all ages and all running or walking abilities. Participants are encouraged to do a full 5k, but shorter distances are acceptable. Members can also help fundraise for the club team without running.
Since participants will be running solo or in small groups, members can share their race photos on Facebook and other social media sites with the official #irunforjim and #TeamPressClub hashtags.
Donations toward the National Press Club team can be submitted here.
