Renovations Begin July 30 for Reliable Source, 13th Floor Restrooms

Renovations of the Reliable Source kitchen and the bathrooms on the 13th floor will begin in both areas after the close of business on Friday, July 30, and are scheduled to be completed by Labor Day.

What will change in the Reliable Source?

The Reliable Source kitchen project will involve the demolition and rebuilding of the cooking and dishwashing space. It will modernize the kitchen, which has not been renovated since 1984, and will allow the addition of pizza and panini, for example, to the menu. The work will include new flooring in the cafeteria area. While most of the change is behind the scenes, members and guests will note a new look as they approach the buffet area. The lunch salad bar and hot buffet as well as the weekday breakfast will be re-establish in the same location after the project is completed.

How will this affect members?

The entire cafeteria area will be closed to all traffic during renovation. While the bar will retain full beverage service, menu choices at lunch and dinner will consist of a limited hot and cold buffet set up in the restaurant area with no a la carte service. Some key menu items will be available, at Reliable Source pricing, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant for the duration of the project. On Friday evenings, only taco bar service will be available. Members’ continental breakfast will be served in the Fourth Estate Restaurant for the duration of the project.

The McClendon Room will continue to be available, but access will be only through the double doors to the right of the fireplace. The game room and restrooms will be open but only accessible via the small elevator.

What will change in the 13th floor bathrooms?

The bathrooms will get wall coverings, counters and faucets and a look more like the overall Club. The Dyson hand dryers and the general configuration of the rooms will not change.

How will this affect members and guests of the Club?

Only one set of two (one for women, one for men) bathrooms will be closed at any time so that one set of women’s and men’s facilities is always available.
