Reliable Source announces side dish, dessert menu for Turkey/Roast Beef Buffet Night on Nov. 16

The Turkey and Roast Beef buffet dinner will have all the trimmings in the National Press Club's Reliable Source restaurant on Thursday, Nov. 16, starting at 5:30 p.m.

There will be special entertainment by a piano player who has been tickling the ivories at the Mayflower and St. Regis hotel bars for years -- Dan Ruskin, brother of the late political satirist Mark Russell, who will tell his entertainment life story along with the tunes. He's a Washington piano bar legend.

A special wine and beer complement the buffet.

Here is the menu of buffet offerings:

Salads

  • Potato salad -- with dill and yellow mustard
  • Waldorf salad -- with toasted walnuts, apples, celery and whole milk yogurt
  • Roasted vegetable salad -- with carrot, cauliflower, butternut squash, crumbled blue cheese, cranberries, spinach and apple cider vinaigrette

Meats

  • Roasted whole turkey -- carved, with cranberry relish on side
  • Roast beef -- carved, with horseradish cream sauce on side
  • Blackened blue catfish -- with smoky remoulade sauce on side

Side Dishes

  • Slow-baked turkey stuffing, made with day-old bread combined with sage, onion, celery and homemade chicken stock
  • Dirty rice, with vegetables and chicken liver
  • Candied yams. with maple syrup, cinnamon and brown sugar
  • Sautéed green beans almondine

  • Black Forest cupcakes
  • Pumpkin cheesecake
  • Classic apple pie
  • Raspberry, white chocolate cheesecake
