Details
On April 22, 2025, at 3:00PM, the Press Freedom Center at the National Press Club will host a virtual event with author and journalist Jon Allsop. Allsop, who recently authored What is Journalism For? will read from his book and discuss its major themes, such as the relationship between journalism and activism and what’s at stake when journalism is threatened. He will also participate in a Q&A session with Press Freedom Center Director Bill McCarren and take questions from the audience.
"The question of what journalism is for in society is a perennial one but has perhaps never been more relevant than it is now,” Allsop said. “[We live] in an age of sharp political and technological disruption and with attacks on the very fundamentals of the concept metastasizing worldwide. I'm honored to be joining the National Press Club to discuss it through the lens of my first book."
