President Wilson visits Club during 1914 housewarming
This Week in National Press Club History
March 20, 1909: The National Press Club marches from its crowded quarters at 1205 F Street to 15th and F Streets, in an extraordinary parade led by the city’s two tallest policemen and a brass band. The Club remains at this address until 1914.
March 20, 1914: President Woodrow Wilson is the principal guest at the Club’s housewarming in its new quarters in the Riggs Building. His credentials as a writer make him a bona fide member of the Club.
March 20, 2008: Football great Eli Manning speaks to the Club and wishes it “All my best!”
This Week in National Press Club History is brought to you by the History & Heritage Committee, which preserves and revitalizes the Club’s history through displays, panel discussions, lectures and the oral history project.
