Debra Tice, mother of journalist Austin Tice, held a news conference at the Press Freedom Center on December 9, 2025. The conference marked one year since the fall of Damascus, and she outlined steps she would like to see the U.S. government take regarding the safe return of her son. She also discussed recent positive developments in the government’s approach to the case.
