Mihaies visited Ukraine last year to learn about the little-reported schism in the Ukraine Orthodox Church. His story in The American Conservative magazine, which appeared in August 2024, displayed a few of the 2,000 photos he took during the visit. At the Photo Team meeting Mihaies plans to present more images from his visit and tell how he gained access for the photos.
Mihaies is an independent journalist and consultant on sustainable development, food security, foreign policy and conflict resolution, with a masters degree in international relations from University of Oxford. He discussed his visit to Ukraine and the article in an Update-1 podcast in Nov. 2024 . In 2019, he displayed photos from a Syrian refugee camp as part of the National Press Club's annual members exhibit.
