National Press Club's Photography Team will feature photos by recent visitors to Cuba at its next meeting on Thursday, April  23 at 5 pm in the Cosgrove Lounge. The meeting is free and open to all Club members, but RSVPs for both in-person and remote participation are required.

Register here.

Meeting participants will hear from team members Marideth Joy Sandler, Diane Stamm, and Peter West who visited Cuba in the past two years. Sandler, Stamm and West will describe the conditions in Cuba they witnessed first-hand and their interactions with the people, as well as display a sample of photos from their trips.

Sandler describes herself as "a photographer of motion" with photos of athletes, performing artists, and wildlife. Stamm is a photographer, editor, and writer found on Substack. West, a retired journalist and communicator, shoots abstract art, underwater, and wildlife photography, and has displayed his work at galleries in Baltimore and Annapolis.

The Trump administration is threatening Cuba with a Venezuela-style attack on its leadership, making it a newsworthy topic. Reports from Cuba in the past few weeks indicate deteriorating conditions, including extended power outages, from a tighter U.S. economic embargo.

Drinks and snacks at the meeting will be available from the Reliable Source at participants' expense.
