Just this year Rubenstein has been in headlines regarding his reception of the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former President Joe Biden, President Donald Trump’s removal of Rubenstein from his position as chairman at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, decisions he has made as owner of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles, and his commentary on the U.S. economy and history.
Rubenstein is co-founder and co-chairman of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest and most successful private investment firms. Established in 1987, Carlyle now manages $441 billion from 29 offices around the world.
Rubenstein currently serves as chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Gallery of Art and the University of Chicago.
