Optimizing Amazon book page for indie authors, Oct. 8

How can independent authors make the most of their book pages on Amazon? And what in the world is metadata, and what does it mean for authors? Those questions will be addressed at the next meeting of the National Press Club's informal independent authors group on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

Special guest speaker is Penny Sansevieri, founder and CEO of Author Marketing Experts (AME). She will discuss "Optimizing Your Amazon Book Page" as well as covering a book's metadata, explaining what it is, why authors need it, and how they can use it.

Sansevieri's focus is on book marketing and media relations. She is also an adjunct professor teaching indie publishing at NYU. Her company develops innovative social media book marketing campaigns. She is the author of 16 books, including "How to Sell Your Books by the Truckload on Amazon," "5 Minute Book Marketing," and "Red Hot Internet Publicity," which has been called the "leading guide to everything Internet." AME has had dozens of books top bestseller lists, including those of The New York TimesUSA Today, and The Wall Street Journal. To learn more, visit the website.

The Oct. 8 meeting, one informal member benefit maintained during the Club's reduction in services during the health crisis, will be held via videoconference. Remote monthly meetings are expected to continue for the remainder of 2020.

The group is open to new attendees. Club members may request an invitation by contacting Ed Barks, at [email protected]. In order to be considered, you must indicate your experience with or interest in independent authorship (sometimes called self-publishing) when making your request, and you must be a Club member in good standing.

Independent authors manage their own publishing businesses rather than relying on agents and traditional publishing houses, gaining added control of their content and speed to market.
