NPC Silver Owl Terry Hill joins independent PR Alliance Board

Communications consultant and National Press Club member Terry Hill has been appointed to the board of directors of the Independent Public Relations Alliance (IPRA), an affiliate of the Public Relations Society of America’s National Capital Chapter.

IPRA professionals offer strategic communications, media relations and issues-management services to nonprofit organizations, corporations and government agencies. The alliance also emphasizes community involvement and raises funds for the Center for Child Protection and Family Support of Washington, D.C.

A former television and newspaper reporter, Hill was recently inducted into the NPC's Order of the Silver Owl. He serves as a contributing writer and photographer for the Club.

Before launching Terry Hill Communications LLC in 2010, Hill was press secretary for three members of Congress and held senior communications positions with the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s largest small-business organization, and the International Franchise Association, where he also led the award-winning Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative which enabled more than 2,000 military veterans to become small-business owners.

A veteran of two tours of duty in Vietnam, Hill was awarded the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. In 2011, he was appointed by the U.S. Small Business Administration to a three-year term as a member of its Advisory Committee for Veterans Business Affairs.

Hill holds a master’s degree in English from George Mason University and is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management.
