NPC Newsmakers Committee plans discussion of effectiveness of digital investigations
The NPC's Newsmakers Committee is planning a discussion on email investigations and recovery at the National Press Club in the Bloomberg Room at 2 p.m. on June 16.
Like all Newsmaker events, this press conference is free and open to Press Club members and credentialed media. No advance registration is required.
Digital investigations are crucial to discovering the truth about virtually any event and email is at the heart of any investigation. Recent cases in Washington are revolving around email files from the IRS to the State Department. At the Newsmakers event, an expert panel plans to discuss the effectiveness of digital investigations and the important phases of those investigations, from preservation to testimony.
The panel is scheduled to include:
- Jim Carden, a court-qualified computer-forensics investigator and expert, a special agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Computer Operations and Investigations Branch for the U.S. Air Force Reserve;
- Chida Chidambaram, chief technology ffficer for Big Data & Analytics at Day1 Solutions, and
- Tim Weaver, forensic expert for a San Francisco Bay Area district attorney's office and formerly the manager of an FBI RCFL unit in Silicon Valley.
